Delicious New Summer Menus at The g Hotel

The new summer lounge menus at Galway’s sumptuous g Hotel launched this week, providing the best reason ever to beat the heat and stay out of the kitchen this summer!

Galway’s g Hotel is already an outstanding style icon on the west of Ireland hotel scene, and recently upped the style stakes further, unveiling a dramatic one-million-euro refurbishment of its spacious foyer, signature lounges, bar, new restaurant GEO and adjoining cocktail bar. 

Must Do Lunch

The new Lounges Lunch Menu is served in the newly styled opulent g lounges, the Grand Salon and the stylish ‘Pink’ and ‘Blue’ lounges and offers an array of light bites and main courses including delicious salads such as Carrot & Quinoa Salad with Sesame, Lime & Coriander Marinated Carrots, Trio Quinoa, Roasted Chick Pea, Frisée & Rocket; Crispy Hen’s egg, Apple Celery & Fennel Salad, Pickled Mustard Seed & Walnut Vinaigrette, the Classic Caesar Salad and McGeough Smoked Pudding.

The Lounge Sandwich Selection includes the classic style sambos as well as new additions including Po’ boy a delicious Fried Shrimp, Chipotle & Coriander Mayo, Pickled Shallots on Brioche Roll & Lime and the delicious Taco of the Day.

The  Galway Cheeses & Cured Meats Sharing Board is a popular lunch time and evening treat with Aran Island Goats Cheese, Dunmore Brie, Kylemore, Crackers, Cured Meats, Quince, Pickles & Olives, Grilled Sourdough and the Seafood Board has an array of Dooncastle Oyster, Smoked Cod Croquette,  Connemara Smoked Salmon, Killary Fjord Mussels, Lemon & Brown Bread – put simply ‘the sea on a slate’!

Classics bigger bites include McGeough’s Beef Burger with Smoked Hegarty Cheddar, Roasted Onion, Pickles, with fries; and Castletownbere Cod & Chips with Chef’s “Pretty in Pink” Crust, Pea Puree, Fennel Slaw, Sauce Gribiche with fries.

The new Lounges Evening Menu at The g features an array of starters including Smoked Cod & Crab Rillette served with yuzu gel, pickled cucumber, micro greens and caper berries, as well as a more traditional Seafood Chowder of mussels, dillisk sea lettuce, and fresh and smoked fish. 

For fresh seafood at its simplest, there is the pure and natural brilliance of Dooncastle Oysters, served with lemon and Tabasco.

Bigger bites include Monkfish Fingers accompanied with pea puree, fennel remoulade, a dill emulsion and Donnacha’s Celtic Leaves.  For foodie purists, it is hard to beat Chef Majecki’s Castletownbere Cod with Kelly’s Clams harvested in Galway Bay, coco beans, smoked pancetta fricassee, brown butter capers and lemon.

McGeough Smoked Lamb is another new evening menu offering at The g, comprising slow cooked lamb shoulder with garden pea mint and shallots chutney, carrot puree and a rosemary jus, served with creamy chateau potato.

Vegan and vegetarian menu options are equally tantalising and include Paccheri Pasta dressed with rocket and almond pesto, vegan feta, cherry tomatoes, smoked almonds and black olives.   Another popular new meal at The g is the Spiced Chick Pea and Tofu Ragout, comprising mouth-watering chick pea, sweet potato, tofu and kale in a curried broth, served with basmati rice and flat bread.

Dessert Delights

Desserts to die for again see Chef Majecki’s original take on sublime classics including strawberries, chocolate tart, ice cream and sorbet. 

A wave of the culinary magician’s wand and The g dessert trolley presents Lemon and Yuzu Zeppolé, an Amarena cherry and lemon sorbet, and Caramel Chocolate Tart served with hazelnut mousse, hazelnut chocolate sauce, and whiskey ice-cream.  Balsamic Compressed Strawberries include homemade puff pastry, vanilla pastry cream, basil pearls and a basil sorbet, while Baileys Semifreddo comes with pistachio mascarpone, a raspberry reduction and pistachio croustillant.

The style-icons’ hotel also boasts friendly helpful sommeliers and bar staff who have the perfect wines, beers and cocktails to complement even the most eclectic food choices.

Dinner is served in the hotel’s recently refurbished Restaurant GEO and is also available in the newly styled lounges.   GEO means earth and, while the culinary team’s inspiration comes from around the globe, the uber-fresh seasonal ingredients come from just around the corner.
