The Red Line Book Festival, an annual literary celebration showcasing local, national, and international authors, is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for comedians. The festival, scheduled to take place from October 14-20, 2024, will feature a diverse program including panel workshops, theatre productions, children’s events, and more.
The applications process is now open for the position of Comedian Writer in Residence to support the delivery of the festival program. This unique residency opportunity is supported by South Dublin Libraries and Arts. The focus of this year’s residency is to nurture local talent in the art of stand-up comedy writing. Interested comedians are encouraged to submit their applications by July 17th 2024 and all details and criteria are outlined on the festival website www.redlinefestival.ie
This contract for service comes with a grant of €5000, covering all relevant costs associated with the residency. The successful applicant will be tasked with providing residency services on a part-time basis between August and October 2024 and mentor a group of adults to develop their stand-up comedy writing and performance skills. The highlight of the residency will be a series of public workshops culminating in a live performance during the Red Line Book Festival on Thursday, October 17, 2024. The selected comedian will have the honour of hosting and opening this special event.
South Dublin Libraries will offer additional support and assistance to the Writer in Residence in the areas of admin, marketing and technical support with various elements of the residency as well as liaison with relevant community groups for relevant promotional activities, facilitation of meetings, workshops or talks.
