Three has announced the incredibly popular City Stages tour will visit Ireland’s West Coast this month, coming to Galway’s Eyre Square on Saturday, March 25th.
The music showcase will stage six up & coming buskers in the heart of the city from 12-3pm.
Taking to the stage at Eyre Square will be a line up of new and exciting talent including Arthur Valentine, Finn Dynasty, KeSTine, Mia Yermeche, Nadia Desree.
City Stages has quickly become a much talked about event, providing a platform for music fans to discover incredible new Irish talent. The initiative offers the next generation of musicians, currently learning their trade by busking on Ireland’s city streets, an opportunity to progress their careers by offering them the opportunity to perform on the biggest stages in the country. Applications to perform are open at 3.ie/CityStages with the next dates and locations to be announced shortly.
To date, City Stages has provided a platform for over 20 emerging Irish musicians on stages in Dublin, Limerick and Waterford, sharing their music with new audiences. The campaign has also been graced with surprise performances from some well-known Irish acts including pop band, Wild Youth, folk artist Saibh Skelly and singer-songwriter Brad Heidi, each having busked throughout their careers.
Recently, songwriter Tia Burke, having performed at City Stages Waterford, was hand picked by Mercury Prize nominated Self Esteem to open for her sold-out show at 3Olympia Theatre.
Speaking of the experience, Tia commented “I couldn’t believe it when I found out I was personally chosen by Self Esteem to open for her as I’m a huge fan. It’s been a dream of mine since I was about 14 years of age to play the 3Olympia Theatre. It’s such an iconic venue and it was an amazing opportunity!”
The initiative is touring Ireland across the year, with more opportunities for those artists to play on some of Ireland’s biggest stages such as 3Arena and 3Olympia, opening for major artists.
Each City Stages performer is provided with their own dedicated performance slot and recorded content of their performance while every musician who applies can access a series of mentoring masterclasses led by AIM Ireland. The mentorship will provide the burgeoning musicians with information on everything they need to help progress their music careers, from advice on management and booking live shows to increasing their fan base and pitching their music to media.
The City Stages initiative is supported by Sony Music Ireland and AIM Ireland as well as broadcaster Tracy Clifford.
City Stages is part of Three’s commitment through their All For Music positioning to support and nurture new and exciting musicians in Ireland and help them to grow their careers from the smallest stages to the largest. As sponsors for some of the country’s biggest venues such as 3Arena & 3Olympia, as well as Electric Picnic, Three can offer unique opportunities to Ireland’s next generation of talent.
‘All For Music’ is built around the collective experience of the enjoyment we get from music, the way we connect with people and how it is celebrated. This depth of connection is the reason that we love it so much, both as individuals and as a brand. This togetherness is why Three is ‘all in’ on music.
