The Guinness Open Gate Brewery, the home of innovation and experimentation at Guinness, announces “A Celebration of Irish Pints,” an event exploring the culture, customs, and craic surrounding the iconic Irish pint.
Hosted on the 16th October at 6pm, the event is curated by Ali Dunworth, author of “A Compendium of Irish Pints,” and Stephen Heffernan (Hephee), the artist behind the book’s captivating artwork.
They will be joined for a conversation about pint culture by Guinness Archives Manager, Eibhlin Colgan, who worked with Ali on the research for the book, and will be hosted by Aoife Carrigy.
“I’m thrilled to bring my book on Irish pints to life at the Open Gate Brewery,” says Ali Dunworth. “The heritage and culture of Guinness has been such a huge part of my writing and research it feels like the perfect place to celebrate what I love about Irish pints from history and art to food, drinks and some craic agus ceol of course. I’m looking forward to hosting with Hephee, sharing stories and saying Sláinte with everyone”.
Attendees will also enjoy a curated pint and food menu on the night of the exclusive event, and will take home a one of a kind Hephee print on the evening. Entertainment on the night will be provided by Irish punk-trad band, Ispíní na hÉireann.
Stephen Heffernan (Hephee) adds, “I’m excited to see the artwork from the book come alive at the Open Gate Brewery and to help bring to life this unique event. This book has been in development for almost two years, so it’s great to be able to celebrate with everyone and celebrate it at St James Gate.”
