Beyond The Trail: Hike to Ireland’s Best Small Festival while raising funds for charity

Dublin Simon Community is proud to announce its appointment as the official charity partner of Beyond the Pale, Ireland’s Best Small Festival.

To mark this momentous partnership, music lovers and outdoor enthusiasts are invited to embark on a breathtaking 18km journey through the Wicklow Way on June 13th, leading directly to one of Ireland’s most celebrated boutique festivals, Beyond the Pale. This exclusive guided hike, Beyond the Trail, offers participants an unforgettable experience, blending a scenic adventure with the opportunity to support Dublin Simon Community and make a real difference for those experiencing homelessness.

Fundraisers will join a group of fellow adventure walkers to make the 18km journey from Dublin’s Marlay Park to Wicklow’s Curtlestown Wood and the festival grounds, all while raising valuable funds for Dublin Simon Community. Participants are set for a stunning guide-led journey through Wicklow’s ancient trails to the heart of Beyond the Pale festival—a three-day celebration of world-class music, innovative arts, delicious food and community in the majestic woodlands of Glendalough.

Beyond the Trail participants are asked to raise a minimum of €350 by the 31st of May to secure their place on the Hike. In exchange for their hard-earned fundraising efforts, participants will receive a weekend camping ticket to Beyond the Pale, fast-track entrance to the festival site, refuelling and hydration stations along the Wicklow Way route, and bag transport to the festival.

Emma Kilkenny, Director of Fundraising and Communications with Dublin Simon Community, said, ”We are delighted to announce our partnership with Beyond the Pale. As Ireland’s Best Small Festival, it has built up a devoted fanbase and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our message with their audience. The weekend will undoubtedly be one filled with joy for those attending, enjoying the music, art and food offerings. The novelty of sleeping outdoors at a festival is a far cry from the harsh reality faced by those sleeping on our streets. We hope festival goers will join in our community and show support for those who have no place to call home, any night of the year. We are thrilled to launch the inaugural Beyond the Trail walk and we appreciate the partnership with Beyond the Pale to help us shine a light on the hardships many others are facing. It’s going to be a great way to kick off what will be an unforgettable weekend while also raising vital funds to support men, women and families who need our help to find a safe and secure home.”

The homelessness crisis in Ireland continues to worsen, with almost 11,000 in Dublin alone and over 15,000 people nationwide in need of support—a figure exceeding the entire capacity of Beyond the Pale Festival. 100% of funds raised will go directly towards providing emergency, short-term, and long-term accommodation, offering outreach support for those sleeping rough, helping individuals rebuild their lives through counselling and recovery programmes, and investing in upskilling and development to support long-term independence.

With limited tickets available for this exclusive walk, those interested in joining Beyond the Trail are encouraged to register through the Dublin Simon Community website and start their fundraising drive as soon as possible.
