BIA’s bars are powered by her hard-won self-assurance.
The Boston area-bred multi-platinum star has hustled for years to create her own brand of narratively rich and emotional music.
Though she has all eyes on her now, she possessed this same confidence before anyone was watching.
That conviction informs her latest project, the international deluxe edition of her successful Summer ’23 EP Really Her, which is stocked with 16 tracks characterized by the international star’s penchant for global genre blending, seamless collaboration, and flexible ear for instrumentals.
Despite her hot summer, her success is not of the overnight variety. BIA found proper footing as an independent artist in 2019, scoring a multi-platinum hit featuring on Russ’s Rihanna-approved “Best On Earth,” and she never looked back.
A deal with Epic Records followed, as did another multi-platinum hit, “Whole Lotta Money,” which earned a remix from Nicki Minaj and Top 20 placement on the Billboard Hot 100. The ensuing EP, For Certain and its deluxe version—which earned BIA more Billboard attention, achieving Top 40 status on Rhythmic charts with the G Herbo collab, “Besito,”— helped establish BIA as a future force to be reckoned with, and with the standard and international deluxe editions of Really Her, BIA has announced her arrival on a global scale.
Her Timbaland-produced anthem, “I’m That Bitch,” has reached Top 20 status on the Billboard Rhythmic chart, while her J. Cole collab, “London,” continues to rise up the Billboard Hot 100 and amass over 25 million views on YouTube.
“Millions,” which impacted this summer and includes a cameo from Nene Leakes, is already racking up views by the million. On Really Her (Intl Deluxe) she goes global, collaborating with Sfera Ebbasta, Giggs, Tion Wayne and Luciano. From helping to soundtrack major sporting events like the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs (2021) and the FIFA Women’s World Cup (2023), to her cosmetic line Beauty For Certain and collaborations with Jordan Brand, Foot Locker and Kiss Nails, in and out of the booth, one thing is For Certain: BIA is already a star, and she’s just getting started.
