The Blessed Madonna and Kylie have unveiled the official video for new single, ‘Edge Of Saturday Night’.
Directed by GRAMMY & BRIT Award-winning director, Sophie Muller (Selena Gomez, PinkPantheress, Rihanna) and shot during an electric party at legendary Ibiza hotel, Pikes, the official video sees Kylie dance her way through crowds to join The Blessed Madonna in the DJ booth at Pikes’ iconic micro-club space, Freddie’s, before taking a dip in Pikes’ infamous pool — setting for Wham!’s classic 1983 ‘Club Tropicana’ video.
“When Jin Jin, Raye and I wrote Edge of Saturday night, we always talked about what the video would be like”, says The Blessed Madonna. “We wanted it to feel like a real night out. When the time came (aka Kylie arrived!), our wish came true and we properly took over the legendary Pikes in Ibiza and went absolutely wild in Freddie Mercury’s bedroom. There wasn’t a script, or a giant plan. We just showed up and let it happen. Naturally by 3am we were jumping in the pool, fully satisfied that the party was complete.”
Kylie says: “Almost 30 years after my first stay at Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, it was a total joy to revisit this iconic destination. I loved sharing this unforgettable moment with The Blessed Madonna and am so happy the excitement and energy of this hot August club adventure was captured in the video for ‘Edge Of Saturday Night’.
Premiered as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on BBC R1 and performed live by the pair for the first time at Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Co.Laois last weekend, ‘Edge Of Saturday Night’ lands as the latest single from The Blessed Madonna’s 24-track debut LP, ‘Godspeed’ — due for release on October 11th.
