Night life in Dublin has seriously been lacking of late, and while we were promised that when the pandemic lockdowns were over that more would be done to improve this, so far there hasn’t been much progress. That is until the Dublin Nights plan was announced.
The Dublin City Council Night-Time Economy Strategy is a comprehensive plan designed to cultivate a thriving night-time culture in Dublin city. By focusing on transport connectivity, safety, and cultural diversity, the plan aims to make Dublin a vibrant and inclusive destination after dark—offering something for everyone, from live performances to safe social spaces.
Some events planned for Dublin Nights
Dublin Book Festival After Dark
The Dublin Book Festival After Dark, supported by the Night-Time Economy Advisor, aims to engage literary lovers in a unique night-time setting. With late-night readings, discussions, and performances, this initiative transforms the festival into a vibrant hub for creativity and conversation, proving that the literary scene can thrive well into the evening.
Nocturnal Beats
Nocturnal Beats is an exciting late-night venue trail that extends the vibrant spirit of Culture Night into the early hours. By partnering with late-night venues, we’ve created a unique experience showcasing the best of Dublin’s nightlife. This event not only packed the venues but also received rave reviews from residents and media alike, proving that Dublin really does come alive after dark.
Culture Night Late Welfare Area
During Culture Night, we piloted a late-night welfare area equipped with medical support and welfare officers to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees. This initiative was well-received, providing a much-needed resource for those enjoying the festivities. We’re now working to establish this welfare area as a permanent feature in Dublin’s night-time landscape.
There is discussions with the NTA, Irish Rail, and other transport agencies to develop late-night transport solutions.
