What to expect at Beyond The Pale Festival 2024

As the days get a little longer the festival summer buzz starts to appeal. When looking for a festival that ticks every box on an almost spiritual level – Beyond The Pale has incredible experiences in store this June (21-23rd). 

From an eclectic Music line-up, the Beyond the Plate curated food experience, the exhilarating Arts and Comedy programme to the Wellness area, The Space Within where you can meditate; with yoga, tea ceremonies, deep-tissue massage, Indian head massage or have a traditional Irish sauna. This is just a small idea of what’s in store this year.

 Beyond The Pale Festival is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Glendalough Estate in Wicklow is just 45 minutes away from Dublin City Centre. Now in its third year, it’s renowned for its relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, the ultimate festival escape. 

The festival this year not only boasts a stellar line-up (with more to be announced) with new BRIT Award-Winners Jungle whose only Irish date is at Beyond The Pale this summer, Jessie Ware, Soulwax, Romy (of the xx), Marc Rebillet, Thievery Corporation, Obongjayer and a host of Irish acts such as John Francis Flynn, Ailbhe Reddy, Rachael Lavelle and Gilla Band.

The Line-Up So Far 

The line-up so far includes funk soul maestros BRIT Award winners Jungle whose only Irish date this summer is at Beyond The Pale, and multi Mercury Prize, 6-time BRIT nominee, Jessie Ware. Belgian electronic rock gods Soulwax will play and also as their mash-up DJing alter-ego 2ManyDJs. Grammy-nominated xx front-woman Romy and techno icon Richie Hawtin will also headline. Legendary Scottish writer Irvine Welsh will perform at his ‘favourite festival in the world’

Canada’s AlvvaysCourtney Barnett, and a first ever Irish festival appearance for Thievery Corporation. YouTube sensation Marc Rebillet has also recently been announced and  BTP’24 will see the debut of Obongjayar  of ‘Adore You’ fame, as well as New York hip-hop legends The Sugarhill Gang

Arts 

The festival’s Arts space includes performance legends, artist residencies, utopian dream spaces, new work commissions, in a sometimes jaw-dropping homage to the world of the arts with art installations, comedy, theatre and cabaret. 

Wellness 

In the wellness area festival goers can avail of Deep Tissue oil massage, Indian Head Massage, acupuncture as well as reflexology and the Bosca Beatha the original and first mobile sauna in Ireland. Escape the frenetic nature of life further into the woods where you’ll find the group wellness programme – The Space Between with tea ceremonies, breathwork, morning moves, Yoga, soundbath and ‘time travel for beginners’ meditation and much more! 

Food

Beyond The Plate is the festival’s food area curated by Irish Times food journalist Ali Dunworth. Apart from all the great food she’ll be presenting a line-up of talks & demonstrations from some of Ireland’s leading food & beverage personalities. The festival also boasts an extensive beer and cocktail menu. 

Glamping

The festival’s glamping experience is back with Silk Road Tents and Pitch Perfect glamorous camping on site. 

Travel

There is an excellent travel network to the festival with Marathon Coaches providing return bus routes from Custom House Quay to Glendalough Estate, departing Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of June. Single and return bus routes are also available from Bray DART station to Glendalough Estate, departing Friday 21st June. Drivers can find the route from Roundwood Co. Wicklow to the Oldbridge entrance to reach the parking areas of the festival.
