Above Balally Luas station in the Rockfield centre near Dundrum, the ideal setting for a contemporary evening meal out awaits. Brickyard offers a staple menu of well prepared favourites, as well as some special delights, served with slick new-urban panache and fantastic service.
The dining room is a modern, open space, un-cluttered and efficient. Despite a full house, the staff dashed swiftly and attentively, you won’t be left grumbling over your finished starter here. The dinner menu selection is reassuringly short and uncomplicated.
For starters, I went with the medium size chorizo hot sauce chicken wings.. They were perfectly done, with plenty of rich flavoured sauce, in a portion that could easily be shared.

My partner had the mac and cheese, which was delightfully light, in a crispy breaded shell. It’s served in a sumptuous truffle aioli sauce.

For the main, I had the classic beef burger, which is also available as a double meat option. The burger is served with a dollop of garlic sauce (optional) and hand-cut fries done just right. This is far from your typical pub burger, with Dubliner cheddar, fresh toppings and their house “brick mac” sauce.

My partner had the prawn linguine, served with tangy cherry tomatoes in a garlic lemon chilli sauce, delivering an enticing medley of flavours.

With a full working bar and enclosed beer garden alongside, Brickyard has a massive selection of beers, cocktails & spirits. I opted to try the house brews, Two Sides, a rich, coffee flavoured imperial stout, and Brickline which is a light, refreshing pils. My partner had a gin cocktaIL, which came in a generous serving and cute presentation.

For dessert, both opted for the banoffee, which is served in a sundae glass. It was delicious and rich, although the presentation precluded the chance to try parts in different combinations. This is strictly a point for the sticklers and the food players, so it’s altogether forgivable.

For a total of just over €100 for three courses, two beers and a cocktail all-in, Brickyard truly offers exceptional value as a walk-in only restaurant. It’s a rare combination of excellent, straightforward food, exceptional, efficient service and great value in a stylish contemporary setting. We can’t wait to return soon!
