October is the melancholic story of a summer romance that came to an untimely end with the arrival of autumn. Reflecting the decay found in the natural world, the song explores the reality that love does not always conquer all, despite what we are often taught to believe.
Recorded at Windmill Lane Studios, the track was engineered by Rosanna West and mixed and mastered by Sam Warmington. Bríd performs vocals, guitar and wrote both the music and lyrics, joined by Sam Warmington on bass and banjo and Ella Berke on violin.
Built around an understated acoustic arrangement, October balances emotional honesty with warmth, allowing its themes of loss, acceptance and quiet resilience to unfold naturally.
Bríd Lyons is a folk musician, singer and songwriter from Kilkenny who weaves poetic lyricism with acoustic melodies to explore the beauty of nature and the complexity of the human experience.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Lisa Hannigan, Anna Mieke, Ye Vagabonds and Hozier, Bríd creates music that sits comfortably within Ireland’s contemporary folk landscape while remaining rooted in traditional storytelling. Previous releases have received praise from Hot Press, The Last Mixed Tape and McGig Music, marking her as one of Ireland’s emerging folk voices.
